Using ratings when you hire a electrician
- Look at the number of reviews as well as the score. A typical listed electrician has 22 Google reviews. A 5.0 from a handful of reviews says less than a 4.8 from a few hundred.
- Read the lower reviews and the replies. How a firm handles a complaint tells you a lot.
- Compare firms near you. Our locations pages rank the electricians in every town and county we cover.
How we did this
- Data: Google ratings and star breakdowns for 4,781 electricians listed on Top Rated Electricians, taken in November 2026. Firms are listed when they have an active Google Business Profile, a working website and at least five Google reviews, so the figures describe established firms rather than every electrician in the UK.
- Averages: worked out from each firm's number of one to five-star reviews, so every review counts once. Counties need at least 10 listed firms and towns at least 5 to appear in the tables.
- Praise themes: based on up to three recent five-star reviews per firm, matched against groups of words for each theme.
